A Texas City man was sentenced Thursday to 20 months in state jail for possession of methamphetamine.

A Galveston County jury found Luke Wayne Dowdy, 37, guilty on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, Assistant District Attorney Anthony Smith said.

Texas City police and a SWAT team executed a search warrant in September 2016 at a residence in the 1700 block of Wayside Drive, Smith said.

Officers found Dowdy in possession of methamphetamine, digital scales, guns and ammunition, Smith said.

Dowdy faced between six months and two years in state jail for possession, Smith said.

Dowdy yelled at jurors and said they were ridiculous when they returned Thursday with his sentence, Smith said.
