A retired Houston police officer is facing three counts of sexual assault of a child charges, authorities said.

Bond for Texas City resident Abel Diaz Rodriguez, 54, who served 25 years on the Houston force, was set at $120,000, Texas City Police Capt. Joe Stanton said.

Stanton said the investigation began Oct. 18 after police received a report of a sexual assault of a child involving a 15-year-old victim.

All of the charges are related to the same victim, he said.

Rodriguez retired eight years ago.
