No one was injured in a single-car accident that briefly shut down Interstate 45 near the Galveston causeway, the sheriff's office said.

The accident happened about 1:41 p.m. on the west end of the causeway on the outbound side, according to Texas Department of Transportation.

The car lost control and slammed into the median wall, Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said. The car caught fire after the crash, he said.

The driver got out of the car safely and was not injured, Trochesset said. She received a ride from the scene from a family member, he said.

The crash caused all four lanes of the interstate to be shut down for a short time. Traffic on the island was backed up beyond Lewis Lane.

The crash was cleared by 2:15 p.m.
