A Round Rock man was sentenced Friday to three years in prison for being found with child pornography in May 2016.
Shannon Edward Lawson, 54, had in January pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of child pornography and was sentenced Friday as part of that agreement, Assistant District Attorney Anthony Smith said.
Several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, stopped Lawson during an inbound inspection in May 2016 at the Port of Galveston, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Investigators found about 200 images of child pornography on Lawson’s cellphone, according to the affidavit.
Lawson told police he found the pictures on the internet instead of creating them, according to the affidavit.
Lawson must register as a sex offender for life after he is released from prison, Smith said.
