A 49-year-old Danbury woman died early Sunday after a motorcycle crash in Hitchcock, police officials said.

A motorcycle driver along with a passenger, the 49-year-old woman, were headed south on FM 2004 about 1 a.m. Sunday when the motorcycle took a turn too fast and the vehicle went into a ditch and hit a sign, Hitchcock police Capt. John Jenkins said.

The woman was found dead at the scene and the driver was uninjured, Jenkins said.

The crash occurred in 9800 block of FM 2004, Jenkins said.

Police suspect alcohol may have been a factor in the incident and are exploring charges, Jenkins said.

Police could not release the name of the victim Sunday because next of kin had not yet been notified, Jenkins said.
