A 73-year-old woman has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death Christmas morning of her husband at their home in San Leon.

Gwendolyn Brown Bailey is accused of shooting her husband, William Bailey, four times in the torso just after midnight Christmas Day, Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.

Gwendolyn Bailey told police she shot her husband because of “continuous marital issues and infidelities,” police said in a news release.

When police arrived, they found William Bailey lying on the front porch, police said.

“He was still conscious and was transported by EMS to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center,” Trouchesset said.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Besides the Baileys, three of the couple’s grandchildren were at home at the time of the shooting, Trochesset said. The children’s mother had been at work, he said.

It was unclear whether the children saw anything.

Gwendolyn Brown Bailey remained in the Galveston County Jail on $100,000 bond.

[sad] Hate to see this, Marine Brother and former co worker, and she was always such a sweet lady.

Not knowing either, when I read it, my reaction was, how sad. I can not imagine what the family and friends must be going through. But prayers go out to all.
