Police were investigating Saturday after a 26-year-old man was found dead in a car after an apparent shootout in La Marque that morning.

About 4 a.m. police were called to a shooting in the 900 block of FM 2004, officials said. When police arrived, they found three cars wrecked and Desmond Benjamin of Galveston dead in a vehicle after an apparent shootout.

Two other unidentified people had non-life threatening injuries and were sent to the hospital, authorities said.

Police said the cause of death was still unconfirmed and would be determined by the medical examiner's office.

No arrests had been made, police said. The La Marque Police Department was continuing to investigate possible leads Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
