A man was flown to a Houston hospital Thursday afternoon after the eighteen-wheeler he was driving flipped on a Hitchcock road.

Hitchcock emergency responders were called to the 9100 block of FM 2004 at about 11 a.m., police Capt. John Jenkins said.

They found the eighteen-wheeler resting on its drivers side. Police believe the truck flipped at least once after its driver lost control while approaching a curve in the road.

Speed may have been a factor, Jenkins said.

The driver of the truck suffered a head injury, but was conscious and talking to responders, Jenkins said. The driver was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

The southbound side of the road was closed for more than an hour as the scene was cleared.
