I’m hurt!

Governor Abbott has been abusing his powers since this whole pandemic started, so this is nothing new. As for the lawsuit, by appearances, it appears it was too little, too late. And I can't see any demonstrable harm in opening early voting up a week early. There is enough voting confusion going around right now, there is no need to add to it by jiggering the dates at the last minute.

"Justice Jimmy Blacklock....noted the Republican's lawsuit didn't attempt to explain what Henry was forced to do or how he was injured." It doesn't take a financial genius to figure out the money needed to rum early elections has now increased, Judge. And that additional money was not budgeted.

Gary Scoggin

My question, and I don’t know the answer, is how much money and is it material to the County budget? How does this additional cost compare to the cost of the litigation itself?

Carlos Ponce

"Galveston County has hired about 350 people to work the polls during this year’s general election. The workers, who will be paid $12 an hour, will staff dozens of polling places across the county beginning Oct. 13."

Early voting was supposed to start Oct 19 but is now starting Oct 13 on October 13, 2020 – October 16, 2020 (8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.), an additional 4 days at 9 hours per day or 36 hours. That does not include set up time and take down time before and after each day's election.

Assuming all 350 people work each day (some may only work on Nov 3) that's an additional $151,200 not originally considered.

Litigation costs is split among the plaintiffs.

Given the time it will take to vote ques would be overwhelming with out this extension - this will be well worth it to the taxpayers. Just about the best thing Abbot has done since taking office IMHO!

Ron Shelby

The additional election costs themselves are not enough to significantly impact the County's General Fund Budget of $145Million. This would have been for other reasons.

Jim Forsythe

Bottom line, early voting will begin Oct. 13.

Filing an objection to a governor action late in the day is the single most proactive thing Mark Henry has done during the entire pandemic

Why is there one party that wants to do everything in its power to prevent people from voting hmmmmmmmm

Gary Scoggin

Actually, this is a Republican vs. Republican thing.

And it’s nice to hear from you, George. I’ve been meaning to ask where I can get signed up for my $500/day to be an Antifa protester. I looked on Indeed.com and didn’t see anything.

If the GOP would stop trying to suppress the vote by throwing up road blocks at every opportunity, maybe the early voting would not have been necessary. Oh and Carlos, your Boy is 10 points behind Joe. Impressive campaign you all are running.
