A weak tornado touched down just before 5 a.m. Friday near the Dickinson and League City border.

National Weather Service staff surveyed reported damage Friday and determined that a tornado did touch down for a brief time, officials said.

“It was mostly tree damage,” Sean Luchs, a forecaster with the weather service, said. “Trees and trampolines.”

The tornado touched down just south of state Highway 646 and just west of state Highway 3, Luchs said.

Authorities did not report anyone hurt during the event.

A potential for storms will return Sunday, but the weather service does not expect severe weather, Luchs said.

Heavy rain in Galveston County on Friday morning made some roads impassable, but the water had drained by noon, officials said.
