I would think that since ANICO is one of the Island's largest employer's and taxpayers people would be more understanding. Look up ANICO on the CAD. You will be amazed what they pay in taxes. - LOL

Karen Sawyer

you are correct, non tax paying UTMB has tons of closed off streets

Veronica Von Blon

You obviously do not live in the vicinity of ANICO. The whole downtown district has flooding issues. Why would you want to add to the flooding by closing a street and elevating a park which in essence would be a dam to buildings and residents around there? A park is a great idea. ANICO owns 5 parking lots around the building. Use one of those for a park.

You'd also be amazed at what the other businesses in the area pay in taxes. If this plan is implemented, will ANICO pay the expenses for the busineses in the area that are flooded due to ANICO's need to protect their employees ? I doubt it.

A surface drainage ditch, with grating walk over, will easily solve this problem. Can't believe all the fuss. Can be modified to match up with peripheral drainage going forward. Will be a nice improvement.

Get a FIRM contractual commitment that the company will remain in the building, in the island, for the next 20 years, rather than move them remainder of the employees to League City. Then I'd be happier to consider such significant changes.

I think it would be great for that area....it needs a boost.
