The National Council for Home Safety and Security named Friendswood one of the safest cities in Texas for 2018.

Friendswood, with a population of 40,000, ranked as the eighth safest city in Texas and the safest one in the greater Houston area, the council said.

The council reviewed the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, population data and internal research.

The council ranked cities based on the number of reported violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people.
