I hope they realize the full report cannot be legally released. Barr and Mueller are working on a redacted form of the report which probably will not satisfy.
These people are entitled to peaceful protest - even if the goal will not be achieved.

Emile Pope

Simply made up. You are incorrect...

Carlos Ponce

Look at the individual parts of my post, Emile:
"I hope they realize the full report cannot be legally released." - True
The grand jury testimony cannot be released.
"Barr is right about releasing Mueller’s report"
"...a heavily redacted version will be released, scrubbed of any grand jury information."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/01/17/barr-is-right-about-releasing-muellers-report/?utm_term=.fc56d4d77d2e

"Barr and Mueller are working on a redacted form of the report which probably will not satisfy. - True
"Barr said that Mueller “is assisting us in this process” of redacting certain material from the report."
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/29/william-barr-expects-redacted-mueller-report-to-be-released-by-mid-april.html

"These people are entitled to peaceful protest - even if the goal will not be achieved."
First Amendment Bill of Rights:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Based on legalities (Grand Jury testimony, etc.) they will not be able to see the entire document.
Now which part is "made up"?

Emile Pope

Wrong as usual. Barr cannot keep grand jury testimony from Congress. Barr cannot keep testimony from Congress because it might be embarrassing or incriminating. Barr is trying to keep evidence from Congress and he cannot do that. Barr cannot censor a report from Congress...

Carlos Ponce

Wrong as usual, Emile. The law on the Special Counsel states: "The notification requirement in paragraph (a)(1) of this section may be tolled by the Attorney General upon a finding that legitimate investigative or privacy concerns require confidentiality."

Carlos Ponce

So, Emile, I'm wrong just because you say so? I backed my responses with sources. Yours, with NOTHING.

Emile Pope

Garbage. That section had nothing to do with censoring or withholding evidence from Congress. Nothing. It concerned the notifying them of a special prosecutor being named. And nothing about concealing evidence or testimony over privacy concerns. There is nothing there about withholding evidence from congress for any reason. Typical. Pointing out something irrelevant as proof. Yawn...

Emile Pope

Nixon tried to stop the tapes from being released citing executive privilege. How'd that work out?

Emile Pope

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/celebrity/politics/john-mitchell

Carlos Ponce

Those are governed by different laws, Emile. A Special Prosecutor is under a different set of regulations than a Special Counsel. Analogy: You're trying to use coal to fie up a nuclear submarine.

Emile Pope

Wrong. You used a totally irrelevant rule to justify censorship of a report. It had absolutely nothing to do with withholding testimony from Congress.

Carlos Ponce

Emile, your disagreement is not with me but with Democrat professor Alan Dershowitz. -a scholar of United States constitutional law and criminal law who taught at Harvard Law School. He is a Liberal Democrat but knows the law.
So Emile thinks he's smarter than a Harvard law professor?
"The special counsel, under the rules, has an obligation to file a report with the attorney general. There's nothing in the rules that requires the attorney general to make the report public, particularly if it contains information critical of people who were not indicted," Dershowitz said. "This is a political issue. This is a media issue. This is not a legal issue."

Emile Pope

Congress is not the public.

Carlos Ponce

Whatever, Emile. Congress is going to get what Barr, Rosenstein and Mueller gives them. Don't cry when it's not the unredacted copy.

Connie Patterson

You can not have a rational conversation with these people...they are convinced and motivated by anger, doesn’t matter what the facts bare out

Ray Taft

You mean the Galveston County Democratic Party could only find about two dozen people to protest?

According to polling, few people care about the Russian Collusion Hoax, but some Democrats are fighting hard to keep the Witch Hunt alive. They should focus on legislation or, even better, an investigation of how the ridiculous Collusion Delusion got started - so illegal!

Paul Hyatt

The so called protestors would know these things IF we had real journalists that actually knew how to do their jobs.... As it is all we get is a bunch of parrots who are spouting the DNC line....

Jon Babara

lol

Carol Andrews

This protest was not sponsored by the Galveston County Democratic Party. Please know your facts. before making such comments.

Bailey Jones

Always happy to see Americans expressing their 1st Amendment rights.

Kitty Allen

[thumbup][thumbup]

Carlos Ponce

Bailey, were you this happy when we protested Roe v. Wade at the old Galveston Courthouse? Or are you only happy when Liberal Americans express their 1st Amendment rights? Be truthful.

Bailey Jones

I'm always happy to see Americans off the couch and out in the fresh air, Carlos. Freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and freedom to protest are our most fundamental freedoms - and if they aren't exercised they are lost. I don't care if it's Nazis or NFL players - make your voice heard.

George Croix

I agree, Bailey.
Our Republic in action.
Unfortunately, we are not required to have the slightest clue that what we're protesting FOR is illegal, but, why spoil the umbrage with legalities..........
[wink]

Bailey Jones

Well, George - considering the pro pot rallies I attended in college in the 70s, I can't say that legality really enters into it. (If it was legal, you wouldn't need to be protesting, now would you?)

Carlos Ponce

Bailey, the pot you smoked in the 70s is not like the pot available today. Very dangerous stuff out there.

George Croix

Are those sign carriers demanding a full and unredacted report on dope smoking, Bailey, containing Grand Jury testimony and classified sources and methods............
That wasn't mentioned as their goal in the article.....[unsure]

Carlos Ponce

Bailey, were you this happy when members of the KKK peacefully assembled at the Thelma Webber center in Santa Fe, Texas? Or do you only happy when 1st Amendment rights are exercised by those whose views are similar to yours? Be truthful.

Bailey Jones

Asked and answered, Carlos.

Carlos Ponce

At least you're not a hypocrite like another forum poster. First Amendment Freedom of Speech is there to protect all speech whether popular or not. Need to have you explain this to university students. Poor snowflakes throw a hissy fit when their perceived "safe zone" is challenged with views not like their own.
"Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story. Desiderata

Bailey Jones

That's a pet peeve of mine Carlos. I know too many who wrap themselves in the bill of rights but can't stand the thought of a Muslim in the congress. And the idea of restricting free speech at colleges is just ridiculous, and an affront to those to fought so hard to gain that right in the 60s.

George Croix

Who proposes restricting free speech at colleges, Bailey, other than the folks who refuse to even allow anyone that doesnt think like them TO speak???

Joel Martin

Not to sound negative but this is just silly.

Karen Sawyer

Barr blocked the summaries provided by Mueller's team and provided his own narrative, which was severely lacking according to the team. Either the summaries and/or the full report needs to be released.

Gary Miller

Karen. The full "legal" report will be released. I'm supprised the three other county Democrats didn't attend this rally.

Emile Pope

What good is a "report" when the people who are the targets get to remove any incriminating or embarrassing information in it before anyone get to read it? It wasn't done with the Clinton reports or Nixons...

George Croix

No.
They get to remove any information related to sources and methods which could compromise FBI or DOJ or national security interests, and the law about handling information sourced from Grand Jury findings but not leading to indictment precludes doing that. As ALL do.
You should get your sign and join those protesters...misery loves company....

Carlos Ponce

"the people who are the targets get to remove any incriminating or embarrassing information" WRONG as usual Emile.
"Attorney General Barr says Mueller report won't be shared with White House for review, should be released 'mid-April' "
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/attorney-general-barr-mueller-report-shared-white-house/story?id=62042921

Emile Pope

Not from Congress...

Carlos Ponce

Barr, Rosenstein and Mueller were not appointed by Congress.

Emile Pope

The Justice Department is a part of the executive branch. So is the AG. That's why when the president is accused of misconduct they have to get an independent investigator. Having the AG decide if charges can be brought is like having the accused person's attorney decide if charges will be brought. And having the Justice Department decide what information is to be presented to Congress is like having the defense team decide what evidence the prosecution gets to see. That's why it has never been done in the history of this country. Because it's illegal and violates the separation of powers. Civics. Not just a Honda...

George Croix

It would be easier to teach a goat to tap dance on the wing of a biplane at 5000 feet up than to get across to you that the Justice Dept. is the entity involved in creating, investigating, and finally reporting of the Mueller bunch, NOT Congress.
But, you're lucky, as there's no law against being wrong.....

BUT, I would gladly go for an UNREDACTED Mueller report released IF we also finally got the UNREDACTED Benghazi and Hillary Email reports out.....
How about Mr. President....declassify it ALL and get it all out there.....[beam][beam][beam][beam][beam][beam]
Lets watch Elijah Cummings and Gerald Nadler and Adam Schiff and Maxine Waters and the rest of the...characters....who NOW say that their Gander is different from another's Goose......suddenly decide that they don't want to play.....[beam][beam][beam][beam][beam][beam]

Gary Scoggin

The Republicans have had plenty of opportunity to investigate Hillary's emails -- both through Congress and through their control of the Justice Department. Why haven't they?

Benghazi was investigated over and over, several times by hostile House committees. Reports were issued.

In both of these, there was not evidence to indict Hillary for a crime. From what I am seeing of the standard being set by President Trump loving partisans, that is the same thing as total vindication. So, by your own logic, Hillary is innocent of everything and must have been framed.

Carlos Ponce

Investigating 30,000 deleted e-mails from cell phones which were smashed by hammers and computers wiped clean with Bleach Bit. Neat trick. Sounds like someone was trying to obstruct justice but AG Loretta Lynch who referred to it as a "matter".[rolleyes]

George Croix

You know why, Gary.
Pre-2017 inauguration day, there was no way that any real investigation could be done, with a special prosecutor appointed and a grand jury empanelled, which is what must be done, because THAT requires DoJ to do, and the chances of Lynch wanting to or her Boss allowing it were exactly zero. Congress is limited in it's power even IF the POTUS and the DOJ and the FBI and the State Dept. would cooperate, which as you well know they did not because they were in on the Hillary protection gig....by now, not even Stevie Wonder could fail to see that. Hard to do a thorough investigation when the people in power at DoJ and the White House do NOTHING about destroyed evidence and proceeded to provide 'documents' so heavily redacted that it appeared they were printed with black ink on black paper....calling that 'transparency'.......that COULD now be solved with the current AG and DoJ appointing a Mueller-esque setup...
Post 2017 inauguration day, we had the mess of getting started after being pretty sure there would be no win, THEN started the phony projecting of Russia Russia Russia onto the New Kids by the ones we now know were ACTUALLY colluding andOSTKy because the worthless AG in name only Jeff Sessions took the cowards way out of recusal based on accusations, not evidence. And who replaced him as acting AG until recently? Rosenstein, the guy talking with Mccabe about wires and who APPOINTED Mueller.....
I'd call those pretty darn good reasons why we have not had a Special Counsel for Hillary and the DNC yet......this BS about 'Congress could have done it" is just that, BS....unless there is someone authorized to FORCE an investigation effort and gather evidence under power of threat of jail time and also empanel a Grand Jury, it's just 95% political theater.
WILL the Clinton crime cabal (my opinion...) finally get it's just deserts?
Maybe.......
We'll see what happens with a real AG finally in place....

George Croix

"Ostky"....??
That's 'mostly' with a less swollen finger...............[ohmy]

George Croix

TOTAL BS, Karen.
Barr didn't block anything.
The summary was issued AFTER he, Barr, AND Asst. AG Rosenstein, AND members of the investigating team, AND the Office of Legal Counsel all concluded in consultation together that the summary was an accurate one....THEIR collective 'narrative', NIT unilateral.
The 'severely lacking' is according to the WAPO, in a post citing 'an official', anonymous, supposedly relaying what that 'official' claimed was from 'some investigator'.
It may well BE true, but when the info is third hand, as this was, AND anonymous, even the DNC daily talking points writers should be a little cautious before swallowing whole....but then, they're trying to displace that huge /no collusion' lump in their throats....[beam][beam][beam]

Emile Pope

Barr is not allowed to censor a report to Congress. Congress is asking for the report. He cannot censor a report due to privacy concerns of the individuals involved.

George Croix

Once again you have a firm grasp on what you choose to declare are the facts that fit your own narrative.

Grand Jury privacy.
Individual privacy.
If you try for a realy, really long time, you still can't make those two mean the same thing.
Toss in Classified Source and Methods privacy, and it's three strikes, you're out.....Again.....

Yes. yes.... Garbage!! Proof!!! More garbage? proofproofproof.......
I can only explain it to you, I can't understand it for you....

George Croix

Jon Babara

Democrats who have no real job!

George Croix

Hmmmmmm......
If the 'anonymous source' investigators don't know or don't respect the laws relating to their own investigation, as we might well conclude from the WAPO's 'anonymous official' supposed comments, and feel free to break said laws and leak their own spin, then exactly how much faith have we that this entire team who ALL were supporters of the opposition candidate, have left their personal prejudices at home while working?
I'd imagine...make a WAG... that NOT finding any of the 'collusion' they were tasked to find HAS to be eating them up.....and so any innuendo or at worst non-indictable pin pricks at all will be better for them than the failure to find what they so badly wanted to find....
But, I could be wrong...they may all just be 'grossly negligent', or 'extremely careless' and blew their own investigation, and in REALITY it was the Trump campaign posing as Russian agents who sold the ex-Russian spy dirty 'dossier' fake...stuff... to the DNC and the Hillary Campaign, and then the followup post-election narrative to try to dislodge the elected Pres., all for millions of bucks received.....

Maybe that's it.....

Jarvis Buckley

What a Joke. These folks never had it so good in their life. Some folks just gripe. They must lead a sad life.

Emile Pope

Like those tea party folks?

Jarvis Buckley

The fact that Mr. Pope hates our President is obvious. I don't know Mr. Pope but it is shocking to me to see such venomous comments everyday . What makes folks so judgemental.
Mr. Popes comments are so prejudicial. Never has one thing positive to say about our President.
That in itself causes a lack of credibility in his comments as far as
I am concerned. President Trump will be our president for 6 more years.
During those 6 years I would like to read one positive article written by Mr. Pope about President Trump.

Emile Pope

I never said anything good about Hitler either...

Jim Forsythe

Jarvis
How many times have you said good things about Beto? The same goes for Hillary, President Clinton, President Obama.
Why would you expect Mr. Pope to say good things about Trump?
Examples why some may be upset with Trump.
He says he declared a Emergency on the border, because of people crossing and he needs to stop it now.
He said he was going to shut the border now, but decided not to do it until one year from now.
If the border is such a Emergency, he would shut it down now.
He had employees at his golf club, that were not here legal. This was after he said all his employees had been E-verified, which they had not.
He makes fun of people that have just passed away. He is the President, and not someone that words and actions do not matter.
These are just a few of the reasons some do not like him.
I'm sure that some will make excuses for what he has done, no matter what.

Emile Pope

How’s his healthcare plan coming along.

Carlos Ponce

Emile, since Obamacare is in legal jeopardy it needs to be replaced. Rather than trust the Democrat House for anything useful plans are on hold pending his re-election in 2020 and Republicans re-taking the House and keeping the Senate. Pipe dream? Not really.

Emile Pope

Donald’s healthcare plan is a pipe dream...

Carlos Ponce

Not really.

Gary Scoggin

What is the President's healthcare plan? Does he have one?

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, what is in Donald’s healthcare plan that is so good that he has keep it to himself, instead of getting it started.
With Trump, words speak louder that actions.

Carlos Ponce

"what is in Donald’s healthcare plan"
https://housegop.leadpages.co/healthcare/

George Croix

Have ya'll forgotten that Obamacare was NOT a 'health care plan'?
It was a mandated health INSURANCE plan. With a LOT of one-size-fits-all provisions, as if that is how actual medical care ever works...It actually CAUSED LESS HEALTH CARE AVAILABILITY by so many of the abjectly ridiculous new rules and regs and demands and requirements that put some hospitals, medical care facilities, and Doctors out of business, or unwilling to stay in it.
THEY are where the 'health care' is.
It takes facilities and people to give CARE, not a piece of paper, and certainly not a piece of paper that's largely useless unless you can afford to pay a deductible that's way high....
Actual care was given the middle finger in Obamacare, as it did squat to keep actual care facilities from closing and to encourage providers to get into, or stay in, the business......it was little more than an insurance scam, as it was DESIGNED to fail, and then become a government run entity. It's 'affordable' to some only because it's got Joe paying for Jack....ANYTHING is 'affordable' when someone else pays for it.

THAT all aside, the REPUBLICANS are as full of....stuff....as the Democrats were and are still on this subject. Yap yap yap talk talk talk and all the weaselly RINOS like Ryan and the others who abandoned ship last year did was talk MORE, and actually do nothing to be ready to dump Gruber's Plan for Suckers, while the left pretends they are protecting 'health care'.....
If an honest man was worth 100 bucks you couldn't trade ALL of Capitol Hill for a quarter...imo....

Obamacare?
A Replacement?

Blah blah blah for both......the mess built on lies, and the inaction built of lip service....

Carlos Ponce

Jim, “Psychedelic Warlord” as a 15 year old wrote a "murder fantasy" short story about running over two children with a car. The piece described the first kill as the murder of two children crossing the street. His goal - seeking "the termination of everything that was free and loving."
“As I neared the young ones, I put all my weight on my right foot, keeping the accelerator pedal on the floor until I heard the crashing of the two children on the hood, and then the sharp cry of pain from one of the two. I was so fascinated for a moment, that when after I had stopped my vehicle, I just sat in a daze, sweet visions filling my head.”
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-politics-beto-orourke/
As an adult he once put baby poop in a bowl and told his wife it was guacamole.
After losing the senate race in Texas he ate dirt in New Mexico and then wanted his family to eat dirt too.
And now he's running for president?

Jim Forsythe

Thank you Jarvis for answering.
Jarvis was trying to make the point about Trump and people not saying good thing's about Trump.
Thank you for saying good things about Beto, proving Jarvis's point.

As a 15 year old he wrote a "murder fantasy" and it is bad how? Do we not want our kids to have a imagination? One of my son's wrote a story about a vampire cat, that would suck the necks of people. Did this make him a bad person, of course not. Kids that do not have a imagination are lacking Story telling is a important skill.
Did you have a imagination as a kid, or where you just boring.

Why Some People Eat Dirt. Intentionally eating dirt, also called geophagy, is a natural instinct and may serve a greater health purpose.. Some humans' urge to consume clay may stem from the activity's protective properties for the digestive system, according to new research to be published in The Quarterly Review of Biology.
Soil‐based organisms (SBOs) support gut health and immune response.
We now know that SBOs nourish cells in the colon and liver and actually create new compounds, such as B vitamins, vitamin K2, antioxidants and enzymes. SBOs can destroy or crowd out harmful pathogens, such as candida, fungi and parasites. They also kill off bad bacteria that can bind to or puncture the gut wall. They’ve been shown to bind to toxins and extract them from the body.
More than 800 studies exist in scientific literature that reference soil‐based organisms. Their common denominator is that they link SBOs
to successfully treating a wide variety of health conditions, including: allergies ,asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, flatulence, nausea, indigestion, malabsorption, nutrient deficiencies, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, bacterial, fungal and viral infections.

When people are married, having fun is important. My wife has pulled pranks on me, and I have done the same with her.
The baby poo thing , it was reported by a neighbor as fact, that he was told this. Beto may have told his neighbor this, does not mean he would have let his wife do it. It could have been fake doo, we doo not know.
This could have been after many hours of no sleep because they may have been up with the kids. or his wife may have said that the guacamole looked like baby poo and it was her not him pulling a prank. We do not know, because we where not at this terrible event that is so important, that it must be discussed now.

We have a President now, that has done many thing worse than Beto may have done , because some think he is such a good President and small things do not matter about him, some let them slide. Anything he may have done in the past does not matter to some, even with less than 50 percent of the people not agreeing.

Carlos Ponce

Jim, are you kidding?
"As a 15 year old he wrote a "murder fantasy" and it is bad how? Do we not want our kids to have a imagination?"
If he were in one of the area high schools that WOULD NOT be considered mere "murder fantasy" but grounds for counseling. HE'S SICK!!!!!!

Jim Forsythe

Are you upset about Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock, Jim Butcher , Dan Brown , Robert Bloch ?
If you have read there work, why you consider Beto fantasy writing more disturbing . They have all written about murder fantasy" or made movies in this art form. Is your standard that what someone did at 15, such as writing a murder fantasy, makes him uniquified to run for President? DId he act on this made up story, or was it just the same as a a lot of teenagers who write fantasies stories and books...
Stephen King began his actual writing career in January of 1959 at the age of 12, would you consider him sick? He read a lot of horror stories and comics as a kid/teen, and began writing for fun while still in school .Beto wrote one story, Stephen is still writing.

Fantasy- the faculty or activity of imagining things, especially things that are impossible or improbable.
"his research had moved into the realm of fantasy"

Jim Forsythe

Carlos , thank you for confirming what Jarvis said. What we have is a difference in thinking. He thinks a woman should be able to say what is best for her and you do not. This has nothing to do with a short Fantasy that he wrote at 15.
Your writings at 15 are the same as you write today? If so, you have not grown in your life.
Was the paper a assignment that he had at school or at the group he was working with?
Are you upset about Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock, Jim Butcher , Dan Brown , Robert Bloch ?
If you have read their work, why would you consider Beto fantasy writing more disturbing.
By your way of thinking, we will have adults that only think the way Carlos thinks they should.
Students that have imagination, have grown to be adults that discovered great things.

“Thank you for the question. The way that I would approach your question and this issue generally, is to trust women to make their own decisions about their own bodies,” O’Rourke responded. “When you talk about universal guaranteed high-quality health care for everyone in this country it’s primary healthcare, it’s mental healthcare and it’s women’s healthcare"

Carlos Ponce

Jim posts, "He thinks a woman should be able to say what is best for her and you do not."
You don't get it, Jim. A woman should be able to control HER body. But when it comes to a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BODY with it's OWN DNA a line should be drawn.
As far as Robert Francis' narrative it comes down to this. When it comes to children - they're disposable. Letting a baby DIE after birth or crushing the skulls of a child under his car are the same concept. It's EVIL. Let them live or let them die - whatever suits his whim. Satan would be proud of him.

Jim Forsythe

What does all you just posted, have to do with a 15 year old boy and a Fantasy paper?
What you do not get is not everybody agrees with your take.
If you do not agree with Beto, do not vote for him.
If you are for government control over your life, that your right.

Carlos Ponce

"What does all you just posted, have to do with a 15 year old boy and a Fantasy paper?"
You cannot figure it out, Jim. No amount of posts will. Suffice to say if if some young person today in this county were to put forth the same "fantasy" he would be referred for counseling.
You wrote of Stephen King who as a young boy witnessed a friend being struck and killed by a train. King has no memory of this. "Some commentators have suggested that this event may have psychologically inspired some of King's darker works..."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_King

Jim Forsythe

Now commentators is your proof that the reason Stephen King writes what he writes is based on one event that may have happen in his life, that he does not remember. These are the same people that you say, make fake news.
Did Stephen act out any of his Fantasy works? Did Beto act out his Fantasy work?
Most 15 year old's that write, write fantasy. Did you write anything as a 15 year old. If so, was it all based on fact and not fantasy. If you did not write fantasy, you were in the minority. Now we have Fantasy Anime, that a lot of teens love. Every year they have a Anime Conventions in Galveston and other places, that is attended by teens that dress up as the anime that they like. Does this make them a possible threat to us?

Do you hold Trump to the same standard that you hold Beto.
Is what Beto wrote, worse than a grown man saying grab them by the ----.
Is it worse than a grown man having sex with someone other than his wife, while she is home taking care of his child.
Trumps list goes on for events that he has done.
I guess that he was right, that he could shoot someone, and his followers would not care.

Connie Patterson

Give it up already, sheesh.

George Croix
