As a GISD trustee, I’d like the community to know that no final decision has been made regarding middle school realignment. The board continues to listen to members of the community, GISD Principals, teachers and administrative staff. The continued support and patience, within our entire school community, is appreciated.

If the GISD is searching for a New Superintendent then the problem is half solved already! No need to shutdown what works! ( Austin Middle). What they should focus on is going out and hiring another DR. NAPIER, as Superintendent ......and four or five Principals like JOE CLARK who stared on the movie " LEAN ON ME!" Tighten up discipline, by using the Assist. Principals working with School Officers more closely to form a better learning atmosphere! Another step is to form a closer dialog with parents, emphasizing how they can help their children do a better job in school, and how important a quality education will mean to their futures. I don't have to go look to tell anyone that there exists a better learning atmosphere at Austin Middle than there exists at other schools in GISD. It is obvious! Now, try all these steps and then get back with me. We will fix this problem together if need be, but leave Austin as an example of what works! Thank you.
