Mayor Jason Tabor made a public apology Wednesday to relatives of victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting. And he said he was seeking treatment for alcoholism after he posted inaccurate details about the shooting on social media.

God bless you and help you with your sobriety, Mayor Tabor.

Being a trusted public official is a 24/7 responsibility. There is no "vacation" from those solemn responsibilities to the public. Sounds like you need a 8 to 5 job. Please get one.

Also please get some help for your addictions.

"Since the shooting, relatives have called for the release of information about the victims, including autopsy reports" These relatives should already know everything about their own family member. They don't have a need to know anything about anyone else's family member. If they do, they can ask the family themselves. As for autopsies? The relatives should already be clear about their own family member. No one needs to be pulling that type of information on anyone else. It doesn't belong in the public arena.

Perhaps a leave of absence would be appropriate to ensure full focus on treatment. A public official is entrusted with many responsibilities along with an expectation to apply 24/7 professional judgment - even when experiencing personal challenges and grief. Employee leaves are common and designed specifically for individuals who need time away to take care of personal and family matters.

Hang in there Mr Mayor. You dont have to be perfect. As long as you address the problem, its good enough for me.
