A drainage study does not improve drainage unless you do something with that information.

Very true. Study after Study after Study. How many more studies are needed before drainage work gets done.

Is this a WASTE of money?

Cleaning the bayou's in the county would probably help as most of them are full of junk and dead trees. Dredging the diversionary canal would also be a huge help....

Like it or not, much of Galveston County is well within the new FEMA 100 year flood plain, according to the flood plain maps approved by Galveston County Commissioners Court in August of this year: https://hazards-fema.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8b0adb51996444d4879338b5529aa9cd&extent=-94.8521296832299%2C29.548921418078585%2C-94.66931031677%2C29.55825437631856&fbclid=IwAR26CRWsZEznHuUKZdKWX8MNVXVou29v7Rb-v2kShpCVtda0s52X_7EyGnw

The sea level will NOT be going down in the next 50 years. We must put in infrastructure and work in an intelligent & informed way to make the best of what we have. Quite the telling statements: 1. "It’s the second time Ike recovery money has been used to fund a drainage study;" and, 2. "Previously, a $2 million drainage study was useful for identifying problem drainage areas in the county and where there was room for improvement... But the county didn’t develop plans to address the problems in that study."

Two reasons to ask for accountability and reports on such requests/use of funding. What happened with the two voter approved County bonds on the November 4, 2008 ballot. They are: 1. $75 Million for Road Improvements; and, 2. $15 Million for Drainage Improvements and (3) $45 Million for Facilities Improvements and New Construction.

So fast forward to 2017, and we – the voters - approved an $80M Bond for a variety of additional projects.

Now more funds for more studies? Just my thoughts.
