The Galveston County Sheriff's Office is investigating an early morning shooting that left two people dead.
The sheriff's office received a call about 4:30 a.m. Thursday about shots fired at a house in the 3900 block of Marcos Street outside Dickinson, Chief Deputy Dennis Macik said.
When deputies arrived on the scene, a woman broke out of the house window, Macik said. She had sustained some cuts from the glass and was taken to a protective area, he said.
As deputies were on the scene, they heard shots fired from inside the house, Macik said. A special operations team was sent out to the area to assist the responding deputies, he said.
As the sun was rising, deputies saw a deceased man in the backyard, Macik said. When they entered the house, they found a deceased woman, he said.
Detectives were still on the scene late Thursday morning, Macik said. No additional information was available as of 5 p.m. Thursday.
