Galveston Bay Report Card

The health of Galveston Bay is holding at a “C” rating, according to an annual report card the Galveston Bay Foundation and Houston Advanced Research Center issued Wednesday. The sixth annual report card found improvement in some areas but declines in others, the groups said.

Galveston Bay is no less healthy than it has been for the past five years — but it’s no more healthy either, two groups that have been tracking the ecosystem’s vital signs reported Wednesday.

Release of the 2020 Galveston Bay Report Card affirmed progress in some areas of bay health but also focused on areas needing improvement and emphasized what Galveston County residents and others must do to maintain vibrant and livable conditions in and around the region’s largest natural asset.
