The Galveston Fire Department put out a fire at the Port of Galveston late Thursday after a car waiting to be shipped caught fire and the flames spread to six other vehicles, officials said.

A car in storage on Piers 39-40 caught fire about 8 p.m. Thursday, Interim Port Director Peter Simons said.
