Great article! We need to have such postings to ensure our current and future generations do not forget the efforts of these veterans/soldiers. Thanks to Mr. Vyvial, Ms. Eastburn and the GCDN for sharing these very personal insights.

Great story My dad was discharged from the Army from Korea then to Fort Devens, MA in 1945 or 46. He would be 96 today but passed away at age 80. Until he died, I never heard him speak anything about his experience in Korea. Good to read this much detail about that 'forgotten' war.

Please allow me to add my thanks to you Mr. Vyvial, and particularly for being willing to describe the details of what you and your comrades endured. That is very important, in order to gain the understanding of those who have never been in combat and for many it is very difficult to share. Please know there are many people who do not forget the sacrifices of men and women who went into combat in any war, despite the passage of the many years.
