Will Golf carts also be licenced and safety inspected? Government says those are used to pay for roads. If users want their golf cars to be treated like cars shouldn't they expect the same regulations?
What's the deal? Why do we islanders have to put up with golf carts and their inconsiderate drivers on our busy streets and Bolivar doesn't? Do state laws not apply to Galveston? Okay never mind, I forgot our golf cart drivers are TOURISTS.
Here’s an idea Miles, encourage Bolivar to incorporate as a city or request that they be annexed by Galveston. That way they can pass their own rules on golf carts, and not have to rely on their state representative to pass special rules for them. The more that you have to legislate for these unincorporated areas, the more obvious it is that they need to be incorporated.
Representative Mayes Middleton was a co-sponsor of HB 1548 in the last Texas legislative session which gave permission to some counties to allow golf cart use. In HB 1548 Middleton failed to give permission to Galveston County, a county within his district, to allow golf carts. Now Middleton taking credit for coming to bat for Galveston County golf cart users. Some people have a very short memory.
