Why is Jim Carry running for office in Galveston County?

Walter Manuel

Smear campaigns have become the rule rather than the exception in a lot of elections not only in Galveston county, but else where right at the time of early voting such as in the case where an anonymous PAC calling themselves "Stop Judge Lonnie Cox's Criminal Activity PAC" is advertising and accusing Judge Lonnie Cox of being under "criminal investigation" in order to help support their own candidate.

Anyone can say that they filed a "criminal complaint" with the Office of the Texas Attorney General against someone and boast about it, but anyone with a working brain cell knows that the OAG will never acknowledge that they are in fact investigating someone for wrong doing, so this PAC knows that there's no way for anyone to ever validate their claim. Period.

The interesting thing about this smear tactic being used by this same PAC is that it appears to be firing up a lot of people to get out and vote early for Judge Cox because people are finally fed up with dirty politics and smear campaigns.

Voters need to be educated with the facts alone regarding any candidate rather than being led to the food trough and fed by special interest groups or lobbyist. [yawn]

It means to rule.

Texas took tentative steps toward "Campaign Finance Reform" in response to state scandal in the early 1970s. These have been the forgotten steps with total silence on this front. Perhaps it is time to awaken this effort. Just a thought.
