Your article indicated "Mayor Julie Masters did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the matter." but "City Officials have said the Finance Director's claims are false?" Which City Officials claimed the allegations were false and what evidence do they have to validate their position? Also why is the City Administrator reportedly taking a sudden 3 week vacation (in the middle of the school year and the pandemic) to Missouri when critical items such as completing the budgets for the City and a number of the City Boards such as the Dickinson Economic Development Corporation? Who approved the vacation and why?

Why are the Texas Rangers being called in? Our Galveston County District Attorney office has a Public Integrity Unit which is tasked with such investigations. Why are they not taking care of business?
