GALVESTON

Bearing signs, coat hangers and a fake Gov. Greg Abbott, protesters gathered Saturday in front of the Galveston courthouse to march for reproductive rights just weeks after the Supreme Court refused to block a Texas law banning abortion after six weeks.

A fake Greg Abbott? How could anyone tell?

Jeannette Guest

About as easy to tell as you are fake

Gary Scoggin

What a witty retort! You sure owned him on that one. In fact, you win today's Carlos Ponce Award for Thoughtful Discourse.

I'll be Bailey will think twice about ever posting here again!

Looks like most pictured made a CHOICE not to wear a mask.

Jim Forsythe

CDC: In general, you do not need to wear a mask in outdoor setting.

Carlos Ponce

But Liberals said attending football games in an open stadium was a Super Spreader.

Carlos Ponce

Also looks like the mothers of all those pictured chose not to abort their pregnancy.

Jim Forsythe

The one Galveston sign that says it all. I STAND WITH HER AND SO DOES MY VOTE!

Some people do not take rights being taken away, lightly.

This is what Myssa Milano called for in 2019.

Our reproductive rights are being erased.

Until women have legal control over our own bodies we just cannot risk pregnancy.

JOIN ME by not having sex until we get bodily autonomy back.

I’m calling for a #SexStrike. Pass it on

Carlos Ponce

Myssa Milano - Is that Alyssa Milano's sister? cousin?

Jim Forsythe

I can change it to any other name you want. Abortion would be allowed if men had babies.

Is Jim Forsythe happy or unhappy that his mother chose not to have an abortion? Would you have chosen abortion for any of your sons?

David Hardee

SEXSTRIKE is a great idea. But not not really original. Abstanace of copulation was the virtue women practiced for centuries to protect themselves. That abstinence was also what incentivized men to MARRY and accept the responsibility and commit to a wholesome family life.

That PILL and the FREE LOVE began the recreational sex fad that prompted young women to discard virtue of the SEX STRIKE to be popular as EASY.

It does raise this question when someone refers to BODILY AUTONOMY.

With all the methods available to prevent a pregnancy it would seem that a woman or man or other that was copulating could that possession of BODY AUTONOMY and used a method to prevent pregnancy instead of turning over their BODY AUTONOMY to another to submit to an ABORTION procedure.

Personally never having been involved as a participant in an abortion need situation it is presumptive that I speak on the issue. Except that my tax money is being used. Ergo, I am exercising my support for the Texas legislation by Abbott.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos.

If you had to deal with Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), you may have a different view. Our family had to decide what to do. We were told that if we did not abort the donor twin, both would die. What we decided was our choice, and other families should be able to make the choice for themselves.

Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS)---The fetus with more blood flow is called the recipient twin, and the fetus with less is called the donor twin.

Because the donor twin has less blood flow, this baby grows slower and is smaller. The baby acts dehydrated and cannot make much urine. Thus, the bladder is small or invisible and the amniotic fluid begins to decline. The recipient twin, however, has too much blood flow. It grows faster and is larger than the other twin. The recipient baby tries to urinate the excess fluid from having more blood, so it has an enlarged bladder and too much amniotic fluid.

Abortion is personal, but should be a option for the families that have a 12 year old that was raped. You may say that she could have had this done before 6 weeks. If you have kids you know that they sometimes hide what has happened to them, for as long as they can. Would you force a 12 year-old to be a Mother?

Incest is a issue that some families face. Just as with the 12 year old, some families must decide what to do, as it happened in their family. Would you force a 12 year old to become a Mother to her Brother or Sister?

Other state have already have seen a increase in the volume of abortions from Texas Women. Women that can afford to go to other states, will do so. Women that can not afford to go to other states, will take care of it themselves.

Carlos Ponce

Jim Forsythe, confusing medically recommended abortion with abortions performed for convenience.[rolleyes]

Reasons for abortions:

1.14% are done to save the life or physical health of the mother.

1.28% to preserve the mental health of the mother.

0.39% in cases of rape or incest.

0.69% for fetal birth defects, or eugenics.

3.50% for all the hard cases combined.

But the majority, 96.5% for no medical (mental or physical) reason. It would be "inconvenient"........

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, how many of the reasons you provided, could a abortions be provided?

Can a abortion be provided for rape or incest? You would require a 12 year old to become a Mother to her Brother or sister? Would this be a abortions performed for convenience?

Can a abortion be provided for Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome? I may be wrong , but as I read the new law in Texas, only abortions to save the life or physical health of the mother applies, and not to the fetus. Would this be a abortions performed for convenience?

Carlos Ponce

Re-read the law, Jim.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, which part I'm I wrong about?

It does contain an exception for perceived threat to the mother’s well-being.

The law makes exceptions for ‘medical emergencies.’

Section 171.008 (Page 17): If an abortion is performed or induced on a pregnant woman because of a medical emergency, the physician who performs or induces the abortion shall execute a written document that certifies the abortion is necessary due to a medical emergency and specifies the woman’s medical condition requiring the abortion.

The law does not include exceptions for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest, nonviable pregnancies in which the fetus still has detectable cardiac activity.

What you posted answers some of your questions

Jim Forsythe

I have no idea what you are saying.

Quit mumbling in your cornflakes, and just say it.

Carlos Ponce

Jim Forsythe asked questions.

By reading the text of the bill you answered them.

We are proud of you!.[beam]

Jeannette Guest

How about birth control ?

Abortion should not be birth control for liberals.

Jim Forsythe

Carlos, no questions answered.

Jim Forsythe

Jeannette, how about birth control. Does it work 100% of the time? Does it work for a 12 year old, that was raped or the victim of incest? Does it work in the case of Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome?

Also remember that Millions of women of all demographics, economic strata and political stripes have sought abortions, whether legal or illegal, every year for as long as records have been kept and that’s a long enough period of time to know that abortions will always be with us. Through some time periods their numbers will diminish. Other times, an increase will be evident.

Carlos Ponce

These pro-abortion activists don't realize it but abortion is a man's method of controlling women they impregnate.

No child = no responsibility.

How many abortions were initiated by a man's attitude towards his pregnant partner?.

I remember a man boasting about having his pregnant partner having abortion after abortion. As he put it, he didn't want her to lose her "girlish figure". And when she got older, he dropped her for a younger woman. When he divorced he crowed, " No children, no child support payments!"

Disgusting!

I just wonder how many male proponents of abortion just had her "get rid of the problem".

Vicki King

Does the "My body, my right" apply to all things, such as the mask mandate, forced vaccination? If that is the case, they should be just as fervent in their right to choose whether to wear a mask or getting vaccines. Or is it just things that a particular group of people want it to apply to? If you think about it, if I do NOT wear a mask in public, there is a miniscule chance someone will get sick, much less die. Every time a woman has an abortion, a child dies. Hypocrisy at it's finest!

I remember a man boasting about seeing Muslims celebrating on a roof top after the 911 attacks, but that doesn’t make the statement true.

Disgusting!

Carlos Ponce

"I remember a man boasting about seeing Muslims celebrating on a roof top after the 911 attacks, but that doesn’t make the statement true." Not boasting but reporting, Ted.

One man: Washington Post reporter Serge Kovaleski in a September 18, 2001 article:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/2001/09/18/northern-new-jersey-draws-probers-eyes/40f82ea4-e015-4d6e-a87e-93aa433fafdc/

"In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners' plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river."

Another man, WCBS-TV's Pablo Guzman reports:

… There’s another apartment building (in Jersey City), one that an investigator told me, quote 'is swarming with suspects.' Suspects whom I’m told were cheering on the roof when they saw the planes slam into the Trade Center....".

Most of the people here may not be responsible enough for intercourse. That kid could grow up into something fascinating. Or just your next protestor. But you don't want to give them the chance to chose

Larry Grissom

Sorry but I support Gov Abbott and the ruling.

Women make a choice when they choose to have unprotected sex.

A baby that can think inside the womb is alive and I’ll fight for their right to live my entire life.

To those who are too ignorant to use birth control? Don’t think it’s my place to pay for your abortion. Have another rally and advertise it so those of us who support Governor Abbott can attend.
