When a well-known Houston attorney in May filed a lawsuit against a local law firm seeking $100 million in damages on behalf of a member of one of Galveston’s most notable families, it provided a rare glimpse into a power struggle roiling one of Texas’ wealthiest and most influential business empires since its patriarch was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
