On June 30, the Rotary Club of Texas City held its annual installation banquet at the Showboat Pavilion, where members, friends and family came together while adhering to COVID-19 social-distancing guidelines.
The heat this summer is intense. Maybe the overlay of wearing masks, remembering to keep social distance and taking care to sanitize everything adds a touch more heat-from-stress to the ordinary. There’s much to remember. But here’s one more thing to attend to: Dogs are at risk in our summer heat.
Murdoch’s Bathhouse has been a Galveston landmark since the late 19th century. During the month of July, Rosenberg Library, 2310 Sealy St. in Galveston, will display several items related to this island institution. Among these will be historic photos, tickets and other souvenirs.
The camps, which run throughout the summer months, feature 17 expert instructors to guide children ages 6 to 17 through the basics of surfing.
