Jeannie Janota is at the helm of the upcoming, first-ever, Sea Star Base Galveston Gala. "Disco on the Dock" reigns as Sea Star Base Galveston prepares for its first fundraiser gala Friday that will include drinks, dinner dancing and an auction.

The event will be held in the base’s Commodore Room, where guests will walk the red carpet into the "Studio 54" themed gala honoring Tom Schwenk for his vast community service and charitable support.

Proceeds will benefit the Community Sailing Division and help fund its Adaptive, Youth, College, Sea Scout and Membership programs. The division was the proud recipient of the 2015 Adaptive Sailing Program of the Year award.

Chef Paul Mendoza and the Galveston College Culinary Department will provide a lavish dinner including Lobster Newburg in puff pastry, Beef Filet, Grilled Shrimp and Flaming Baked Alaska.

Theme attire is encouraged and the disco call will spin as guests dance to the talents of DJ Al Boogie.

Sponsors will be honored with a special pre-gala cocktail hour and tours of the BaySmart ship and four of Community Sailing's finest vessels.

Sponsor hour is at 6 p.m. and the gala is 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
