The Galveston Island Humane Society’s pets of the week are Andy and Maizey.

Andy is an orange and white male domestic short hair kitty who came to us as a stray in November at a young age of 5 months. Now 9 months old, he has grown into a beautiful well-rounded young boy. He’s cat-friendly and socializes well with his companions in our community cat room. Andy adores people and has the nicest manners a cat could have. He’s a real gem. Please stop and visit us today to see for yourself what a treasure Andy is.

Maizey is medium-sized pointer mix with a goofy, playful personality. She’s about 5 years old and walks very nicely on a leash. When in the play yard, Maizey will do whatever it takes to show you how thrilled she is about life by jumping up to give you a slobbery kiss before zooming away for play. This special lady was found as a stray a couple months ago, and nobody ever came looking for her. Maizey’s attitude is upbeat and always happy (her tail doesn’t stop wagging). She appears to be trained and would make a fantastic pet. If you’re looking for an addition to your family look no further — Maizey is waiting for you.

Join us for our 21st annual Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Pet Parade on March 3. Register your pet to walk in the parade, or purchase tickets for our Cat’s Eye View balcony party on our website.

Adoptions include the spay or neuter surgery, a microchip, current vaccinations, and a month of pet insurance. These featured pets have an adoption sponsor allowing the adoption fee of $25 for this week only.

This week, we will be giving free T-shirts with our shelter logo on them with all adoptions.
