Caregiver and survivor: Jennifer Baer

Jennifer Baer, director of UTMB Nursing Quality and Safety, recently marked the four-year anniversary of her last breast cancer treatment.

Former oncology nurse Jennifer Baer is a planner, an independent person who competently handles challenges.

So when she was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer four years ago, she thought she’d quietly soldier on alone. The surprise was, family, friends and co-workers refused to cooperate.
