The Galveston city directory for 1870 was an extremely different product than you’d see now, if you could find a 2020 phone book at all. It included steamship and railroad timetables for those venturing off our island.

It doesn’t have a listing yet for the just-then founded West Point Missionary Baptist Church. For a century and a half now, this congregation has prevailed over pestilence, storms, discrimination and demographic changes.
