Discover the effects of secondary exposure to radiation for patients and radiation therapists as Mark Harvey, Texas Southern University assistant professor of physics presents “Modeling of Secondary Neutron Production in Proton Radiotherapy” at 7 p.m. today at University of Houston-Clear Lake, 2700 Bay Area Blvd, in Houston. The presentation will be held in the Student Services and Classroom Building lecture hall.
The presentation is part of UH-Clear Lake’s ongoing Physics Lecture Series. Costs for those pursuing university credit are $15 for an each seminar, $40 for any three lectures in the series, or $99 to attend the entire series. UHCL student conference today through Thursday
Take part in discussions such as diversity and identity, the Amazon Rainforest or propaganda in modern culture. Attend a mock trial or an animation symposium — or participate in an open-mike coffeehouse poetry reading at UH-Clear Lake’s 23rd annual Student Conference for Research and Creative Arts today through Thursday in the Bayou Building.
The conference is free and the public is invited.
One hundred breakout poster sessions, hosted by student authors, cover a wide range of topics, including assistive technology, virtual reality, chemical processes, helicopter parenting and more. The poster sessions will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Friday Morning courses continue for lifelong learners
Join UH-Clear Lake’s Friday Morning Continuing Education Series as its spring series continues Friday in UHCL’s Bayou Building Patio Café.
Featured courses include “Writing Your Own Memoir Part 2,” from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and “Disaster Relief on a Global Scale: Providing Humanitarian Relief with Impartiality and Neutrality” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Send support staffers to UHCL administrative workshop
Celebrate Administrative Professionals Day by sending your staff to UHCL’s Administrative and Office Professionals Summit, featuring “The Communications Doctor” Susanne Gaddis. The workshop is April 25 and repeated again on April 26 in the Student Services Building lecture hall.
The event, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, is open to anyone who works in an office setting, including administrative professionals, office support staff, secretaries and executive assistants.
Participants will learn how to improve communications and productivity in the workplace. Attendees will earn six recertification points from the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
