Santa Fe Independent School District will host a job fair from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cowan Education Center, 4133 Warpath Ave., in Santa Fe.

The district will be interviewing on-site for positions including teachers, instructional paraprofessionals, clerical and technical, maintenance and operations employees, custodians, bus drivers and nutrition services. Candidates should bring proof of certification, or documentation verifying pending certification as it relates to the position for which they are interested. Attending candidates should also bring copies of resumes for distribution.

Santa Fe ISD has a formal induction/mentoring program for all staff new to the district as well as ongoing support for instructional staff during their first two years. The district also maintains a student/teacher ratio of 17:1. Professional learning is planned throughout the district to meet the needs of students and staff. District Professional Development and other district initiatives are purposefully developed and planned so that all staff and students benefit. Curriculum Specialists and Instructional Coaches are available to all staff K-12. Technology is immersed throughout the district to support teaching and learning. There are computers in every core classroom on every campus.

Starting salaries for teachers with insurance and benefits is valued at $54,514. In addition to maintaining competitive salaries, district offers employees an array of benefits. One example of many is the district funded RediMd Clinic. Employees, as well as their dependents, may access a doctor at any of six district Kiosk locations or online from home. This benefit is both convenient and cost saving for employees and their families.

Employees become a member of the Catatstrophic Sick Leave Bank by contributing one day from his/her accrued or anticipated local sick leave for the current school year. This is a benefit that we offer our employees contributed by personnel to be used by members of the plan who suffer from a qualifying incapacitating illness personally or through the illness or injury of an immediate family member which extends beyond the state and local leave available to an employee. Our hope is that none of our employees will have to utilize this benefit; however, it is there for them if and when the need arises.

Employees who have been with the district for five or more years qualify for extended leave benefits. This assistance helps supplement an employee’s loss of pay when life circumstances require them to be absent for an extended period beyond the annual allocation of days available from Local Sick Leave or State Personal Leave. All employees are granted a maximum of three paid days of Bereavement Leave per occurrence to be used for the employee’s absence to attend the funeral of an immediate family member. Finally, employees who have ten or more years of service and take full-service retirement under TRS are compensated for accrued personal leave days earned while employed by the district.
