Talk of the town: Several representatives of SRH Hospitality Galveston Investments were spotted around town last week visiting Hotel Galvez and The Tremont House and getting to know the properties they’re planning to buy.

Mitchell Historic Properties earlier this month announced it would sell the iconic properties to SRH, a Texas-based hospitality, management and investment group. Some islanders are wondering whether any big changes are planned for the properties and whether the hotel names would remain the same.

It's a shame about Bucks. I enjoyed it and the food was great.

I hesitate to call the recent activity at Randall's on 61st a "renovation." They reorganized the produce department, laid new asphalt in the parking lot and replaced traditional checkout lanes with self-serve. They didn't even replace the hand towel dispensers in the restrooms, which is where renovation was really needed.
