Checking in: After months of mystery, owners of the former Pearl Inn, 1002 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston, this week unveiled plans for an extensive makeover of one of the island’s oldest surviving mid-century motels.

Businessman Dave Jacoby, who in July or thereabouts acquired the property, along with business partners announced plans for the 61-room boutique Hotel Lucine, which also promises to enhance the island’s dining and cocktail scene.

Wishing the developers of Hotel Lucine great luck with their "new" hotel. It will fun seeing it brought back to life.
