Reel deal? Warning: This buzz is rated R for rumor. Word has it a developer plans to buy land on the less developed side of Lago Mar for a new Cinemark movie theater in Texas City. But insiders say the real estate deal isn’t done, so it’s premature to roll the previews.

Lago Mar is on land east and west of Interstate 45. Houston-based Land Tejas Cos. owns 2,033 acres on the west side and various unaffiliated companies own land on the east side.

City officials confirm the Brentwood, Tennessee-based company plans a roughly 19,000-square-foot store on 4.5 acres at state Highway 6 and FM 646 on land the city annexed last year. Hmmmm. The only place I can think of where Hwy 6 and FM 646 intersect in is Santa Fe. You say that is Texas City now?

Hi Paul, I meant to say state Highway 146. I'm not sure how I managed that. I corrected it online and will run a print correction tomorrow.
