Palisade Palms

The Beach Club Tower at Palisade Palms looms over the pool area at beachfront property in Galveston. Condominium sales, among the real estate sectors hit hardest during the deep and lingering national downturn, are showing signs of stabilizing, industry trackers report.

GALVESTON — Condominium sales, among the real estate sectors hit hardest during the deep and lingering national downturn, are showing signs of stabilizing, industry trackers report.

Sales in the beach, beach front and seawall segment rose to 133 units in 2012 compared with 119 the year before, marking a 12 percent increase, according to Multiple Listing Service data provided by the Galveston Association of Realtors. But those numbers don’t tell the whole story, real estate trackers say. Many more island condominiums in that segment were sold last year by developers or agents who don’t post in the Galveston Multiple Listing Service, including about 70 sold at three prominent properties — Palisade Palms, Emerald and Diamond Beach.

What took so long?
Texas has had the best economy in America for years. Growing fast enough the legislature is considering another tax cut.
Money the state leaves in the private economy finances jobs, jobs finance tax cuts.
With the "death spiral" states of California, Illinoise and New York increasing taxes Texas can expect more investment. Investments even more valuable if taxes are cut again.
Jobs? Progressives hate that word because jobs reduce the need for welfare spending.
