Galveston is poised for its closeup. Recently, the Galveston Park Board, city of Galveston and the Galveston Arts Center received notification of $50,000 of funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and its “Our Town” grant program to enhance arts and cultural programming.

Our Town is the NEA’s creative place-making grants program. Through project-based funding, the NEA supports initiatives that integrate arts, culture and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities.

Mary Beth Bassett is the public relations coordinator for the Galveston Island Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Park Board of Trustees.
