No doubt, 2020 was full of challenges and opportunities. I’m proud to say that the park board team rose to meet the challenges posed by a worldwide pandemic and some fierce tropical weather. I think it’s fair to say we’ve come out on the other side better and stronger for the experiences.
The park board’s fiscal year 2019-20, Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, was set to be another record-breaker in terms of visitation and hotel occupancy tax collections. All indicators looked positive as we neared the kickoff to summer with spring break just around the corner in March.
