There are many ways to mark how busy a weekend here on the island is. You can gauge the traffic, restaurant waits or hotel occupancy. Sometimes, it’s the trash that’s left behind.

That was the case over Memorial Day weekend. Hundreds of thousands of visitors came to the island to enjoy the beaches after having been cooped up for weeks.
