The city of Dickinson issued inaccurate drainage fee bills that had a voluntary donation of $24 for the Volunteer Fire Department and EMS included as a required payment.

To determine what is due for the drainage fee, residents are being asked to subtract $24 from the required amount due, city officials said.

For instance, if a person's bill said the "Required Amount Due" is $72, a person only needs to pay $48, the city said.

The city collects a drainage fee from most homes and businesses that use public drainage in Dickinson. This charge allows the city to maintain the ditches, culverts and pipes that make up the city's storm sewer system, officials said.

Residents who have questions about the drainage fee should call 281-337-2489, ext. 215.
