The 97 F posted Sunday matched the old record that was set 147 years ago, 1875. 1874,1875 and 1876 are still the warmest in US history since temps were first recorded in 1872. Our revolution war, The war of 812 and Civel war were all during the "little ice age".

Don't know where you are getting that data. According to the official records of the Houston-Galveston National Weather Service, the 97 degree high yesterday eclipsed the previous high temperature record for the date of 95 set in 1875. Also, according to the Climate Database none of the years you mention were even close to the top 10 warmest years in Galveston going back to 1875. In fact, all the warmest years have occurred since the year 2000.

I'd pay good money for a nice little tropical storm right about now.
