Lobs a perfect summer look

College of the Mainland cosmetology student Dykaria Lewis styles student Lourdes Pedraza’s “lob” at the COM Cosmetology Salon in Texas City.

Reporter Christopher Smith Gonzalez has agreed to undergo a makeover for the Glamour for Grammar fashion show on Aug. 14, 2013. Rather than go it alone, he figured it would be a good idea to get some help from those who know a bit about fashion.

College of the Mainland cosmetology student Dykaria Lewis to shares some hair styling tips with The Daily News.

Updating the bob

According to Elle magazine, a long bob, also called a “lob,” is currently trending as a hip hairstyle.

Worn longer, at shoulder length, this version of the bob is a great option for those looking to refresh sun and chlorine-affected hair. It is often styled straight with a side part but can be worn wavy for a softer look. Often this style is accompanied by bangs.

Celebrities sporting different versions of this look include Jennifer Lawrence, Alexa Chung, Ciara, January Jones, Keira Knightley, Kerry Washington, Nicole Kidman and Rose Byrne.

Flattering on just about everyone, a lob is the perfect style for your summer look.
