Melinda Emmons, owner of Melinda's Boutique , knows a thing or two about the fashion has agreed to share some tips with The Daily News.
Peek a Boo
Still flirty as ever, lace is in the air, and it’s not just for evening and not just in black. In a variety of colors, including nude, lace is IN and that includes dresses and shorts. Lace overlays, lace embellishments, lace appliques — LACE, LACE, LACE!! No style of a lace dress is wrong this summer: V-neck or round neck, sleeveless or cap sleeves, tank-top style or sheath. You cannot go wrong when choosing lace for your summer outfit.
When we think of lace, flowers may immediately come to mind. But this year, lace has taken on new patterns such as polka dots connected by lacey threads with, of course, an underlying slip. A popular style of shorts has tiers of thicker lace and looks so feminine. Sometimes, though, lace can sometimes look on the cheap or naughty side, so just remember to keep it ladylike and classy.
Tip: Hair should be worn loose and make-up should be light to nude.
Chevron is an inverted V design, and it’s a big-time trend in clothing. Shorts, dresses, tops, or skirts, chevron is a safe and worry-free style and appropriate for most body types. A chevron printed dress is perfect if you don’t have a lot of time to get dressed. Solid color shoes, whether pumps or sandals, look best, as do solid-color accessories such as a gold cuff and earrings. Chevron is stunning in black and white, but you will see various color combinations this spring and summer such as peach and green, orange and white, aqua and pink, etc.
A surprising touch is a bow in the back of the chevron garment!
