Reporter Christopher Smith Gonzalez has agreed to undergo a makeover for the Glamour for Grammar fashion show on Aug. 14, 2013. Rather than go it alone, he figured it would be a good idea to get some help from those who know a bit about fashion.

Our Fashion Tip of the Week will be a regular post from College of the Mainland cosmetology students exploring different fashion looks and trends. The College of the Mainland cosmetology department will be providing hair and makeup services for the fashion show.

This week's tip comes from cosmetology student Deidre Clarke:

Leather, studs and biker jackets in true punk style are just a peek of the next fashion phase. This week,, Vogue’s Italian website full of fashion tips, defined “rock chic” as the upcoming trend.

To try this look for yourself, begin with the item that represents the rock-and-roll world more than any other: The biker jacket. For a softer summer look, team it with a vintage print top or long dress.

Rock chic is a trend that can be dressed up or dressed down — either way, you’ll look hot and fierce.
