The festivals and the chances to see and experience music in the beautiful outdoor music keep rolling in. And it probably is best to take advantage of the opportunity now before the endless string of days with 90+ degree heat start showing up.
If you are down on the island, then you probably already know about the Galveston Island Beach Revue. Along with the ladies in vintage bikinis along the beach, this year's festivities will feature a local band and a rockabilly group from Austin.
I'm guessing The Bellfuries, with their classic sound and swinging tempo, are going to fit right into the atmosphere the Islander By Choice folks are trying to get at their annual Beach Revue.
The Bellfuries will play at 7:30 p.m. and will the Brandon McDermott Band goes on at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Game Day at the Galvez events at Beach Central, 2102 Seawall Boulevard.
In between the two bands is the vintage base ball game pitting the Katy Combine against the Houston Babies.
While the island seems to have a good party going with the Beach Revue, the good times will be rolling up in the north county as well.
Dickinson's Fourth Annual Red, White & Bayou Crawfish and Texas Music Festival gets cooking this Saturday. The festival features a healthy dose of up and coming country acts with Josh Abbott Band headlining.
If you are looking for some a band that will go well with a few pounds of mud bugs then show up by 1:30 p.m. when Curtis Poullard and the Creole Zydeco Band take the stage.
Born in Baytown, Poullard carries on the family' music tradition with his mix of traditional and nouveau zydeco.
Friendswood is also getting in the outdoor fun with the fourth annual Friendswood Fine Arts Art in the Park, Outdoor Art & Music Festival at Stevenson Park, 1100 Friendswood Drive, on Saturday and Sunday.
The festival features local artists, demonstrations, art activities and of course some music.
Organizers said the festival will feature flamenco guitarist Guillermo Serpas and a flamenco guitarist hybrid performance by Andrew Bateman on Saturday, and Jazz Saxophonist Noah Peterson on Sunday afternoon, among others.
So between bikinis on the beach, crawfish in Dickinson and art, flamenco and jazz in Friendswood, there should be plenty to keep you busy.
