Galveston County students doing good

The following Galveston County students made the dean’s list during the 2019 spring semester at the following colleges and universities:

University of the South: Grace Cassidy Sims, of Galveston; Lyon College: Elissa Douglass, of League City; and

Boston University: Cali N. Dolfi, of Galveston; and Sydney N. Brown, and Yupei Xu, of League City.

Jonas A. Ybarra graduates from basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman Jonas A. Ybarra graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

Ybarra is the husband of Kassidi L. Ybarra, of Hitchcock. He’s a 2017 graduate of Ball High School.

Naomi R. Heath graduates from basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman Naomi R. Heath graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

Heath is the daughter of Donald and Rosemary Heath, of Santa Fe.

Valero recognized by civic organization

For a sixth consecutive time, Valero Energy Corp. has been named to The Civic 50, which is a list of the 50 most community-minded companies in the U.S. by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. Valero also was recognized again as the top energy-sector company on the list.
