DSW Homes helps promote literacy

Leonard Woolsey, publisher of The Daily News, Elizabeth Turner, founder and executive director of Smart Family Literacy, Shannon Burke, with Gulf Coast Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Steve Mataro, a partner with DSW Homes and president of the Smart Family Literacy board, have teamed up to promote literacy at The Daily News’ annual Press Run, that benefits Newspapers In Education. Turner’s organization, with a $15,000 donation from DSW Homes, will be one of the sponsors of the Press Run and will have a children’s book in the runners’ packets. “I’m going to deputize the runners to find a child to donate the books to,” Turner said.
