Elizabeth Rodau Weds Robert W. Bastien

Elizabeth Rodau and Robert W. Bastien were united in marriage at 5pm on October 4, 2014 in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Christy Freeman, sister of the groom, officiated the wedding ceremony. Both the ceremony and a reception were held at The Rochester Community House. The couple first met and fell in love eight years ago while living in Dallas, Texas.

Elizabeth is the daughter of Rick and Sally Rodau of Scottsdale, Arizona. Nancy Rodau, Elizabeth’s only living grandparent, was also in attendance for the festivities. Robert is the only son of Robert and Debbie Bastien of Galveston Island.

The bride wore a Casablanca sweetheart strapless dress with a bodice completely adorned in delicate, hand-embroidered accent beadwork, a platinum satin belt with flower embellishment and an elegant tulle skirt and train decorated with scallops of lace and beading. The bridal flowers featured Gerber Daisies, Calla Lillies, Alstromeria, and Stock of various colors as well as seeded Eucalyptus.

Rosina Thom, best friend of the bride, served as matron of honor, while Brigitte Rodau Adams, Tisha Rodau Petersen and Dana Armbruster served as bridesmaids. Isabel Paredes, niece of the groom, was the flower girl and Dawson, the couple’s dog, was the ring bearer. Jason Ring served as best man, while Ninad Telang, Gustavo Paredes, and Ryan Rodau served as groomsmen.

Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Science from the University of Arizona and teaching certificate through the Dallas Alternative Certification Program. She is currently the Science Teacher at Crenshaw Elementary and Middle School for Galveston ISD. Robert received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch, School of Nursing in Galveston. He is a Registered Nurse in the ICU at UTMB-Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The newlyweds currently reside in Galveston.
