Miss Shelly Marie Mencacci and Mr. Jonathan Robert Delaney were united in marriage at half past 6:00 in the evening, on Saturday, April 27, 2013 on the golf course of the South Shore Harbour Country Club in League City, Texas. Music for the double ring ceremony was provided by the Divisi Strings. Scripture readings were given by Jennifer Delaney, sister-in-law of the groom, and Allison Rouse Moye, cousin of the bride. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the South Shore Harbour Country Club with entertainment provided by The Line-Up.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mencacci, III of Galveston, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Aurora Nelson and the late Eugene H. Nelson of Galveston and Loretta Mencacci and the late Leo Mencacci, Jr. of Texas City. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Delaney of Livingston, Texas. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Delaney of Livingston, Texas and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Underwood.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown of silk organza. The strapless gown featured a sweetheart neckline with a fitted bodice and a dropped waist. Its full trumpet skirt with re-embroidered Alencon lace fell into a soft sweep train. To compliment the gown the bride wore a delicate veil edged with crystal beading. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of maroon callas, green cymbidiums, green hydrangeas, dendrobium orchids, purple rannunculus and tropical leaves trimmed in ivory satin with pearl detail.
Serving as Matron of Honor was the bride’s sister, Amanda Mencacci Covert. Bridesmaids were Sarah Moore Click of Texas City, Lindsay Clayton of Houston, Maggie Curtis of Galveston and Ariell Briones of Texas City. The flower girl was Brianna Delaney, daughter of the groom.
Brent Michael Covert, brother-in-law of the bride served as best man. Groomsmen were Curtis Delaney and Richey Delaney, both brothers of the groom; A.C. Kantara and Justin Vasquez. The ring-bearer was Cade Michael Covert, Godson and nephew of the bride. Ushers were Albert Vaiani, IV and Matt Griffin.
The bride is a graduate of O’Connell High School in Galveston and Texas A&M University, College Station where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Shelly is employed as a Kindergarten Lead Teacher at KIPP Coastal Village in Galveston. The groom is a graduate of Clear Creek High School in League City and attended San Jacinto Community College in Houston. Jonathan is employed as an Assistant Engineer with G&H Towing Company.
Following their honeymoon in Antigua the couple will reside in League City, Texas.
