Clear Lake Greek Festival — 11 a.m. today through Sunday at Clear Lake Park, 5001 NASA Road 1, in Seabrook. Galveston Historic Homes Tour — The Galveston Historical Foundations 34th annual Historic Homes Tour will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Purchase tickets at www.galvestonhistory.org, by phone at 877-772-5425, at the Heritage Visitors Center at Ashton Villa and at area Kroger stores. Tickets cost $25. “Linen and Lace,” the Mother’s Day champagne brunch and fashion show, is a traditional event during the final weekend of the Galveston Historic Homes Tour. It will be from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday at the 1880 Garten Verein Pavilion, 2704 Ave. O. Guests may start their Homes Tour at a champagne brunch buffet served by Carriage Caterers. Guests will be presented a fashion show by Galveston’s downtown Atrium Boutique, featuring a “one-suitcase travel wardrobe.” Tickets to the Mother’s Day Brunch cost $45 and include a ticket to the Galveston Historic Homes Tour. Galveston Farmer’s Market — Downtown Galveston Farmer’s Market, a community event highlighting local gardeners, vendors and entertainers. The market, in Saengerfest Park, on The Strand at 23rd Street opens at 9 a.m. Saturday. Call the partnership office at 409-763-7080.
Summer Kick-Off Fun Run — The 17 annual Summer Kick-Off Fun Run is Saturday at Clear Creek High School, 2305 E. Main St., in League City. The event includes a 5K run that begins at 8 a.m. and costs $18; a 3K health walk that begins at 8:10 a.m. and costs $12; and a 1K kids’ run for ages 12 and younger that begins at 7:30 a.m. and costs $15. Ocean Star Family Day — “Playing with Petroleum” will be the topic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum, Pier 19, 20th Street and Harborside Drive, in Galveston. Houston sculptor Meredith Jack fabricates his forms using hot wire cut construction foam sand cast in foundry. He works in series to follow the alternative decisions available to each form. Film series continues with ‘Caramel’ — The screening of the romantic comedy “Caramel” will be at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, which is continuing its film and speaker series at 7 p.m. May 17 in the university’s Student Services and Classroom Building Lecture Hall, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston. Set in Beirut, the film examines relationships and everyday struggles of five Lebanese women at various stages of their lives. Following the film, a speaker will offer an analysis of the themes present in the movie. The film has English subtitles and is rated PG.
